KUALA LUMPUR: A middle-aged woman's search for love on the Internet took a sour turn after she was raped and blackmailed.
It is learnt that the 50-year-old woman had gone to a house in Cheras to meet a foreign man she had befriended through a social networking site in May.
The woman had been communicating with the man for the past two months and he had asked her to meet him at his house.
Sources revealed that when she went to the house on June 30, he locked her in.
The victim then claimed that she was put under a spell.
“She woke up later to find herself naked in bed with no one in the house at the time,” the source said.
After a few days, a parcel containing a pen drive was sent to the victim's home.
The pen drive allegedly contained a recording of her being raped by two men.
The suspects then demanded that the victim pay a substantial amount of money to stop them from making the recording public.
“The suspects said they would upload the four-minute video onto the Internet if she fails to pay the money,” he added.
The woman then lodged a police report at the Cheras police station.
Cheras OCPD Asst Comm Mohan Singh confirmed that a report was lodged on July 4.
He said police had picked up three men aged between 30 and 32 in connection with the incident.
They have been remanded until today to facilitate investigations.
