Rape-cum-murder case fugitive nabbed for using fake ID

KUALA LUMPUR: One of the country's most wanted criminals who escaped from detention following his arrest for the rape-cum-murder of a woman in Banting in 2004, was arrested when he returned to the country using a fake identity.
The 37-year-old fugitive was arrested in the city on Oct 5 after he sped off in a friend's car.

He had earlier told his friend, a 69-year-old hotel managing director that he wanted to borrow her Honda Crossroads to send a friend to a clinic and would return the vehicle in an hour.
But when he did not keep to his promise, the friend lodged a police report.
City Commercial Crime Investigation Department chief Asst Comm Izany Abdul Ghany said police sent out an alert to all patrol cars.
“The owner then managed to track the vehicle through the GPS system installed in the vehicle,” he said.
“We narrowed down the location and apprehended the man who was with an accomplice at the time.
“He tried to pass off as an illegal immigrant,” said ACP Izany.
“But when we checked his fingerprints on our database, we found that he was a fugitive who was involved in the rape-cum-murder case in Jenjarom, Banting, seven years ago,” he said.
He added that the man and his accomplice were arrested on the spot.
It was reported that the man had fled the country after escaping from the Tanjung Sepat police station by climbing out through the ceiling of a toilet.
He was one of five suspects involved in the murder of 18-year-old See Sheau Fang, whose body was buried in a hole in front of a house in Taman Perwira, Banting.
The body was wrapped in a blanket and stashed into a black garbage bag.
