Fewer school days next year

The Star 9 / 9/ 2011

PETALING JAYA: There will be fewer school days next year with students enjoying an additional nine holidays.
There are 203 school days next year compared with the 210 days this year.
They will also get a longer break with 87 days of holiday (78 days this year).

Next year's school calendar, as shown on the Education Ministry's website, showed that students will go back to school on Jan 4 in all states except in Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu, where classes start a day earlier (see chart).
School heads said they can apply for four days of cuti peristiwa (occasional holiday), which need not be replaced.

They said schools can also apply for cuti ganti (replacement holiday), which is subject to approval by the respective state education department.
The year-end break will start on Nov 10 next year, except in Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu where the holidays start a day earlier.

p/s : Although teachers have longer break compared to last year but people do not realise our burden behind it. Teachers have to attend tuition class, camping, courses and lot of commitments during the holidays. If we count the actual number of holiday its similar to the other job.
